What is a Sport Massage?

Sports Massage is a soft tissue therapy that works with the bodies tissue, not against it, to ease tension and congestion from soft tissues. It is often misunderstood as a painful, fast, often rough form of massage, however this couldn’t be further from the truth!

Justina believes that in order to give a rewarding massage, clients must be as relaxed as possible. She works within a clients pain barrier to create a massage that addresses areas of concern and reduces pain without leaving the client feeling beaten and sore afterwards

What can you expect from a session

During your first session with me, we will have a full consultation to discuss any discomforts alongside taking a thorough medical history. In most cases I will perform a physical movement assessment, testing range of motion through active, passive and resisted movements. This will flag where, how and why you might be feeling pain.

Through my years of experience I have also found that more information, in regards to your tissue health, can be gained from hands on work so I aim to start hands on treatment as quickly as possible so we have as much time as possible for massage work.

Dry needling is included within the cost of a massage if I feel they will beneficial to you and that you are completely happy and comfortable for me to administer them. More information can be found on dry needling

To finish we will retest any pain positive movements that were found at the start of the session. This is to determine whether the pain and discomfort you were feeling prior to treatment has subsided or reduced. This information is crucial to be able to tailor future treatments to you.

In some cases advice will be given on stretches or general postural changes to aid in recovery.
